Some coding, a diary entry and how I talk to brands.

Read this article to see what new features I implemented this week, what I write into my diary and what on my postcards that I send to brands.

Some leftovers from last week

Over the weekend I searched for bugs in our app and fixed some, but could not yet go through the entire app, because my friend is still working on parts of it. And I implemented an edge function that one can call to get a random inspiration about what to talk. Just used gemini to create 30 prompts. They can be refined later if users really like that feature of a nudge into a topic. Furthermore users can now edit their username and I keep the real name from google or apple sign up as it is since I don’t want to create another social media with fake accounts. It should be real. Aaaand user can now give feedback via a form or submit their stars and review to the play and app store. All of this is not even necessary anymore for a store review. So I am just waiting for my friend to finish on his part to ship the app to the stores for the first time.

Here is a diary entry

… I posted on TikTok and wanted to share here as well:

Dear diary,

why do I do this?

I am actually happy with my 9-5. And now it is Sunday. I could’ve been skiing the weekend. But I developed on my app. Which would for now not even make any money. It would be for free. And now I am also doubting my photography skills. I surely have not enough images in my shop. And why should someone even watch my TikToks? And if they do, how do I earn money with them then? I would love to travel a little, shoot cool photos, sell them and have a continuous revenue stream from any software I built. Is TikTok the key to that? Idk. And I can’t invest too much time in doing high effort videos. So why am I doing it? Probably for learning, for doing new stuff, for not being afraid and for the sake of trying. Because if I don’t, in 2 years I surely will wonder what would’ve been.

I love writing these articles in the morning

The, lets say first 10 articles, were written on my commute home after work. But lately I enjoyed writing some lines in the morning to sort my head. I started posting some more personal videos on instagram as well now and am thinking of doing some german videos. Maybe to also grow a german audience, but also because I can express myself a little better in german. So talking head videos will pbly be in german from now on. But everything is allowed. I am just trying out. Let’s see what sticks.

Now I will search for 10 shops in the avocado store and their address, write some messages on my leftover postcards, get some stamps and send them to those brands. Maybe those brands want to licence one of my pictures to use them as a package insert or thank you card. Let’s see.

One postcard at a time

Every morning I now get up I want to write a postcard to one brand if they want to use it as a greeting card or package insert for their customers. A text looks like this:

Liebes XYZ Team,

Euch viel Erfolg!

Felix

All in all this week was in no means special because of a holiday or something. I did not have suuuper much time, but I am still happy with my progress and what I got done. Even though selling art and photography is hard I really like the idea to work with a few brands. It would mean that I would go out there shooting pictures or searching through friends hard drives with a purpose. Finding the right shot for the right brand. That is an awesome thought. Now is saturday and I will fix some bugs and design flaws in our app.

See you next week! ✌🏽
